We welcome you to the Archdiocese of New York Drug Abuse Prevention Program (ADAPP) website. Throughout our 35-year history, the Archdiocese has been committed to developing resilient, productive youth, ready to face each and every challenge the future will present.
While every generation has faced its dilemmas, the issues our kids encounter today are especially challenging. Bullying, school violence, online safety, potential substance abuse – be it drugs, alcohol, tobacco and even prescription and over-the counter medications – stress and anxiety are just a few of the roadblocks that can interfere with their educational journey and disrupt a safe and healthy environment.
ADAPP is committed to helping our schools create a safe, supportive environment where children can learn and grow into healthy adults. To that end, we intend to provide resources and information to our families, teachers and community leaders to tackle, head on, the issues we face.
This website offers resources and tools to help facilitate youth meetings, classroom programming, mentor sessions and opportunities to view and discuss Connect with Kids television programs at home – all to support our mission to help our students build resiliency and make the positive decisions that will assure a healthy, productive future. Resources include:
- Video: Caught in the Web – Watch stories of Internet realities and ways to help our kids to safely navigate their online world.
- Video: Prescription for Trouble – Learn about the latest drug threat to our children: the legal prescription and over-the-counter medications that have become today’s drug of choice.
- Video: Behind the Mask – Explore the feelings of despair that teens often hide from their parents and ways to help them battle stress and anxiety.
- Video: Sticks and Stones – Hear what parents, students and educators need to know to stop the bullying in and outside of school and online.
- Resource Guides for each video program, including fact sheets, parent tip sheets, age-appropriate classroom lesson plans and discussion questions for each program
- ADAPP Public Service Announcement
- Additional resources and information on Internet safety, bullying, and substance abuse prevention and intervention.
- Video Vignettes - Building Resilience, Alcohol and Marijuana Abuse, Bullying Prevention
We thank you in advance for joining ADAPP efforts to assure the best possible future for our children.
