Three key issues facing students today are bullying, alcohol & drug abuse, and a broad topic called resilience. Bullying, exclusion, and teasing, whether in person, online or via text messages, can injure a child physically, emotionally, and academically. Similarly, the harm of drug and alcohol use is long-lasting, multifaceted, and continues to threaten our students. Finally, "resilience" can be an important personal quality during the tumultuous years of adolescence and, typically, is advanced when children feel a strong connection to their school and family.
