Gayle Middle School’s Connect With Kids
Tackle School Attendance
Gayle’s CWKs team has taken on the Attendance Challenge with a lot of enthusiasm and seriousness. It is our team’s belief that students who are regularly in school form positive connections with peers and staff and that together we can make a difference in our community.
The team’s goals include:
- Being in school everyday on time
- Being mentally present as well as physically present
- Forming positive connections with each other
- Connecting with our community to make a difference
So, what has happened so far at Gayle:
- School wide “Jingle Contest” for our logo designs
- Student wide morning Intramural Program organized by our CWK’s physical education teacher and supported by our Business Partners
- Designed and made our CWKs shirts with our technology teacher
- Camfel Productions holiday assembly that was supported by our PTA about making good decisions
- Created a CWKs webpage on Gayle FUSION site
- Newsletter to parents
- Wrote and created a movie about attendance that was produced by our TRT and aired school wide
- Set-up locker drop boxes for tips about attendance and bullying concerns
- Sponsored a Mitten Tree and donated boxes of hats, scarves, mittens and socks to the Department of Social Services for their Holiday Toy Shop
- 6th Grade Homeroom Attendance Contest
Coming up second semester at Gayle:
- School wide reading initiative coordinated with our Reading Specialist featuring a different book for each grade level with a focus on physical and mental school attendance
- A second Camfel Production
- 6th Grade Attendance Contest and Social
- School-wide hunger campaign “Change for Chow” in conjunction with Fredericksburg Area Food Bank
- Video spots and testimonies about attendance
As you can see, we have a busy team having a great time
and making a difference!
