Creating a secure and healthy learning environment for all Stafford County students and families is an ongoing commitment – and goal – for all of us at Stafford County Public Schools. As part of that commitment, Stafford County Public Schools and Connect with Kids have been involved in an expansive community education campaign to address today’s escalating climate of bullying – and to empower parents, teachers and student advocates with materials and resources to help create a bully-free environment in our schools and community.
We are proud to be witness to incredible results. The Stand Up Stafford! Challenge has put into action student leaders – our Stafford Agents of Change – who are both committed to bullying prevention and having a positive impact on the culture in their schools. Recent Youth Empowerment Summits and Parent and Community Leader Workshops continue to empower youth and adults, alike.
Our initiative continues with even more website resources to help facilitate youth meetings, parent and community group discussions, and to view and discuss the solution-oriented television programming about bullying and affecting change. On this site you can access:
- Video: Agents of Change, a training video developed for Stafford County Schools to help implement bullying prevention efforts and other critical issues.
- Agents of Change Bullying Prevention Training Guide, a five-step guide to create, implement and measure action plans.
- Video: Silent Witness, part of the Emmy®-award winning Connect with Kids series which airs on television networks nationwide, including on W*USA 9 in the Washington, D.C. viewing area. The program features Stafford County students and staff.
- A Silent Witness Educator Resource Guide with age-appropriate lesson plans, fact sheet, parent tip sheet and discussion questions.
- A Silent Witness Overview & Implementation Guide with ideas on how to use the materials.
- Video: Cooperation, a feature from the Connect with Kids Character Education Collection, recognized by the U.S. Department of Education’s What Works Clearinghouse as an effective program, with its downloadable Activity Guide.
- Video footage of the Town Hall Events featuring Stafford County administrators, teachers, parents, community leaders and students.
- Video: The Stafford County Public Schools Public Service Announcement to help boost community awareness of this bullying-prevention initiative.
On behalf of Stafford County Public Schools, I thank you for being our partner in creating solutions – and to help assure a bright future for our children and our community.
