A Fate Worse Than Death: Riding The Bus

I was stuck at the Atlanta airport, waiting on a delayed flight with hundreds of other people – thanks to the weather and the new tighter security. While sitting at my overcrowded gate and surfing the web on my laptop, I found this great story.

A judge in Indiana has come up with a novel way to get the attention of teens that violate local traffic laws.

She’s sentencing them to ride the school bus, instead of driving to school.

Is There More to Life Than “Bling,” Sex and Pro Wrestling?

There are two new studies out about teenage behavior that I find disturbing.

A survey by the Rand Corporation has linked early sexual behavior by teens to music with sexually degrading lyrics. And a researcher at Wake Forest University says the more pro wrestling watched by teens, the more likely they are to be violent.

Affluenza – Having it All

We’ve seen them, heard them, some of us may even be raising them ourselves: children who want more, faster, bigger, better. Cars, cell phones, designer clothes.

Psychiatrists say we’re raising a generation that is spoiled, materialistic and bored. It often starts with well-meaning parents who want to give their kids every advantage… and ends with kids who believe that what they have is more important than who they are.

There’s even a name for it: Affluenza. There is also a cure. Again, it starts with parents.
