Welcome to the new Connect with Kids and HISD Student Advocacy website!

As part of our commitment to helping students stay in school and graduate, HISD and CWK Network/Connect with Kids have developed an exciting program of video and print materials to be used in 6th-12th grade Student Advocacy. This program reaches out to students and parents in a personal, powerful way.

The new website is open to all HISD educators, parents and students. It contains:

  • A Fact Sheet: Facts and information about truancy and absenteeism.
  • Teacher Resources: 6th-12th grade educators will find downloadable copies of the Implementation Guide and Teaching Units 1-32. Educators can also access, download and print Student Self-Reflection Questions for Units 1-32 in both English and Spanish.
  • Streaming Video: Visitors can watch 90-second streaming video segments addressing absenteeism, truancy and dropping out. Each video segment comes with discussion questions and Student Self-Reflection Questions that visitors can download and print (please see suggested grade levels).

Extra, Extra!
You also have access to the Connect with Kids  WebSource, a comprehensive collection of educational and journalistic content all about kids, including video streaming news stories, facts, parent tips, student activities and more. Visit www.connectwithkids.com and sign in using the instructions and password given to your school's Student Advocacy coordinator (instructions and password are also located in the Teacher Manuals delivered to your school).
